Almost 150 years ago, the "Lichtenhainer Wasserfall" was already one of the earliest famous features of the Sächsische Schweiz (Saxon Switzerland) and was the setting-off point for the first hikers who wandered on the "tourist paths" through this unique, beautiful region. The guesthouse, built in Swiss style in 1852, was, until the beginning of the 20th century, annexed to a chair-lift, pack-animal and guide´s station, so tha, to avoid the "terrible strain" of an ascent to the cow-shed, you could let yourself be carried up in the chair-lift by 2 carriers.

Saupsdorf is situated at the outskirts of Saxon Switzerland and very calm, convenient and offers perfect recreation. It is a very good starting point for hikes into the Saxonian and also Bohemian Switzerland. Moreover our state capital Dresden can be approached in 50 km and it is just 18km to the health resort Bad Schandau.

Built with natural materials as plenty as possible, each area is designed and in coordination according to regional structures. The vacation home is brightly, friendly and overall generously proportioned, for friends, pairs and families. Different areas for common activities, games and discussions, or just to withdraw from any stress. In addition there is a play barn with a large sandpit, ping-pong, Dart,… a large meadow with a fire place. Located 180 meters above a deep sandstone canyon of the river Elbe, between Děčín and the border checkpoint of Hřensko, is a terrace built at the beginning of the 18th century. There is an amazing bird’s eye view from The Belveder. You can see the Elbe canyon, a huge valley surrounded by high rocks with the Elbe River flowing through. In the summertime, at evenings, when the sky is painted with so many beautiful colors, it’s a magical place. Adjacent to this terrace is a Hotel which shares the same name as the vista – Belveder. The surrounding countryside is favorite place for walkers and all around there are excellent places for mountaineering. From there you can easily reach the popular beauty-spot of Soutěsky and the world-famous Pravčická brána.
